Airsoft - Spring Has Sprung
Spring has sprung for those of us on the east coast. This can only mean one thing for the avid airsofter. “Game on !” Although we played a few cold weather games this winter, there is nothing like that first warm day of spring. The trees don’t have leaves yet, but we can re-dig our foxholes and set the home bases back up.
You can get some nice clean shots at guys when there is no foliage to hide behind. I also noticed that BB’s travel better in 65 degree weather than they were in 30 degree, windy weather. I know that last statement is not a new revelation, but it sure is fun spraying some BBs that go straight and carry toward your target.
If you are lucky enough to have a woods to play in, this is the time of year to clean up your playing area. The woods we play in is full of sticker bushes. They are in all the paths and in most of the high coverage areas. Our plan this weekend is to have all the players bring some sort of garden clippers. If each player cuts a half dozen new grown sticker bushes now, before they get a foothold, we can have a much cleaner airsoft area to play in this summer. For those of you who play in wooded areas who have had stickers make your legs look like a roadmap, you know what I mean.
The last point I want to make about playing air soft in the woods is taking care of your field and the environment. I get really ticked off when we go to play airsoft in the woods and I see trash laying around. The first reason is that it’s senseless. The second reason is that it could possibly get your team kicked off the field. Unless you own the field you play on, most airsoft games are played in public owned areas or are owned by a person who lives near you. Either way, you should try to show the public that airsoft players are responsible citizens who respect the property of others.
